Role Description

We are looking for a dynamic + strategic teammate for the Senior Accountant role at the Client. If you bring experience supporting a multi-client base of venture-backed startups and a passion for accounting, the Client is a wonderful fit for you!

Your Typical, Atypical Day:

• This role has variety at its core. From facilitating client meetings to reconciling accounts, no day will be a "typical day".
• You will be supporting startup clients who need accounting help but may not have a need for an internal team at their growth stage (usually, we work with Seed through Series C clients).
• You will be working in a fully remote capacity, allowing you to design where and how you work each day.
• The ability to context shift, communicate, prioritize, and evaluate needs is the most important aspect of this role.
• You’ll have the opportunity to build robust accounting processes and systems for our clients.

• You are naturally curious and a problem-solver.
• You are a communicator at your core; bonus points for customer or client service experience.
• You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; startup experience is a huge plus.
• You take the initiative and explore new ways of doing things.
• You are an expert collaborator, regularly asking for and giving feedback.
• You have a Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or something similar, and 3 years of experience as an accountant, or 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a startup environment.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Focus on the quality of work as well as client relationships.
• Ability to work through client requests involving:
• Bank and credit card reconciliations.
• General ledger account reconciliations, especially high-risk balance sheet accounts.
• Revenue recognition: prepaid revenue/deferred revenue/unearned revenue.
• Prepaid expenses.
• Tech stacks familiarity (Ramp, Stripe, Bill.com, etc.).
• Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• 1099 and W9 support.
• Producing financial reports.
• Ability to review bookkeeper tasks.
• Producing tax-ready end-of-year reports.
• Strong finance-based analytical skills.
• Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) creation for enhancing clients’ efficiency.
• Strong working knowledge of software and AI, including G-Suite, QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Expensify, Ramp, and Zoom.
