Role Description
In this Financial Analyst role, you will serve in a dual capacity as a ministry-wide financial reporting leader and trusted financial business partner to assigned departments. You will be responsible for delivering timely, accurate and meaningful financial reporting that enables ministry leadership to understand organizational performance, while also partnering closely with department leaders to provide financial analysis, planning and decision support.

Lead the preparation, analysis, and communication of monthly financial results across the ministry.

Develop executive-level reports, dashboards, presentations, and variance analyses that provide insight into financial performance, key trends, risks, and opportunities.

Translate complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable information that supports leadership decision-making.

Build strong relationships with assigned department leaders, serving as a trusted advisor on financial matters.

Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning efforts.

Provide analysis for strategic and operational decisions.

Help leaders understand the financial implications of business initiatives.

Act as an advocate to raise awareness of the needs of children and prioritize child protection considerations in all decision-making.

Prepare executive-level reports and presentations for the ministry and departmental leadership.

Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial reporting and related data.

Lead the annual budget and mid-year forecasting processes for assigned business functions.

Serve as the primary finance business partner for assigned business functions.

Collaborate with the Financial Systems Team to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of data and reporting.

Conduct research on economic trends and apply this knowledge to ongoing projects.

Consult with users across the ministry to develop and enhance reporting solutions.

Work individually and cross-functionally on financial analysis projects.

Evaluate and analyze issues such as capital expenditures and investment opportunities.

May coach other financial analysts and related staff concerning technical finance issues.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field.

7+ years of relevant finance experience in a corporate environment.

Experience preparing executive-level reports, dashboards and presentations.

Experience serving as a financial business partner to department leaders.

Ability to coordinate multiple projects and stakeholders while managing competing priorities.

Strong systems acumen with the ability to leverage planning and reporting tools effectively.

Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy, integrity and quality.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with Adaptive Planning and Office Connect is preferred.
