Role Description

We're looking for an Assistant Controller to own the accounting engine behind a growing performance marketing agency: the close, the collections, the payables, and the controls that keep all of it clean and reliable.

This is a hands-on seat with real ownership. You will not be handed a perfectly documented process and told to maintain it. You will inherit some work that is messy, make it better, and then write it down so it stays better.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close and AR/AP management
• CPA or active CPA candidacy strongly preferred
• Hands-on QuickBooks Online experience
• Experience with AP or collections platforms such as Tipalti and Bill.com/Bill Spend & Expense
• Proficiency with Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides)
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools, specifically Claude, to improve accounting or finance workflows
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• A process-improvement mindset

Requirements

• Lead and continuously improve the month-end close, ensuring financials close accurately and on schedule
• Own accounts receivable and collections, managing routine activity and personally handling complex exceptions
• Oversee accounts payable operations, including vendor onboarding, payment processing, and troubleshooting issues
• Manage and enforce expense reporting compliance
• Partner with the VP of Finance on cash flow forecasting and week-to-week cash management
• Support the implementation and adoption of new finance systems
• Document and standardize accounting processes to reduce manual work, rework, and errors
• Mentor and support accounting staff
• Respond to ad hoc financial questions from leadership with accurate, well-supported analysis
