Role Description
This position serves as the Operations Manager for Operations Section within the Trust Accounting & Operations Bureau, Operations Division. The position is responsible for:

Planning, directing, and managing the daily operations of the section.

Ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant settlement, accounting, cash management, and operational support of the multi-billion-dollar investment portfolios for State of Michiganโs Retirement System Fund, the State Treasurerโs Common Cash Fund, and various agency and trust funds.

Providing leadership to Operations section staff.

Overseeing complex investment accounting operations and enterprise investment systems.

Ensuring the integrity of financial data, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.

Leading continuous improvement of business processes, system interfaces, and operational efficiencies.

Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support strategic initiatives, manage operational risk, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and accounting standards.

Qualifications

Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.

Four years of professional experience performing or auditing the systematic classification and evaluation of accounting data and the preparation of related financial and managerial reports equivalent to an Accountant or an Auditor.

Two years equivalent to an Accountant P11 or Auditor P11, or one year equivalent to an Accountant 12 or Auditor 12.

Possession of a Certified Management Accountant certification (CMA) may be substituted for six months of Accountant P11 experience.

Possession of a Certified Public Accountant Certification may be substituted for one year of Accountant P11 experience.

All work must be performed in the state of Michigan.

If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must commute to Michigan to perform the responsibilities and duties of this position at your assigned official work location.

This position is eligible to work remotely five days per week if you are a State of Michigan resident.

Occasional onsite work will be required.
