Role Description
We're seeking an experienced Controller to join our rapidly scaling Series C startup. As Controller, you'll be a key member of our finance team, responsible for overseeing all accounting operations and financial reporting as we navigate our growth phase.
This position is part of a small but growing company, where rolling up your sleeves and wearing many hats is a must. Strong dedication and teamwork skills are essential to be successful, along with respect for others. Only candidates with a proven track record of teamwork and a “can do” attitude will be considered. This role is ideal for candidates who are consultative, creative, and willing to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
- Manage the full accounting cycle, including month-end and year-end close processes
- Oversee financial statement preparation and ensure compliance with GAAP
- Lead and develop the accounting team as we scale
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls and accounting procedures
- Prepare financial analyses to guide business decisions
- Support fundraising activities and investor relations
- Manage cash flow forecasting and treasury functions
- Collaborate with external auditors for annual audits
- Partner with department heads on budgeting and financial planning
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a controller role
- Experience in a high growth startup environment strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems
- Experience implementing financial systems and processes
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Possess demonstrated problem solving, decision making and time management skills
- Strong organizational and leadership skills; ability to effectively work across teams to deliver shared goals
- Work well under pressure, adapting quickly to change and adversity
- Travel industry experience is a plus
