[Hiring] Operational Engineer Dredging @Jan De Nul Group

Role Description

As an engineer at Jan De Nul, you lead one of our dredging projects. You might be building a new harbor in Georgia, preparing the seabed for a wind energy project in France, or constructing a breakwater in Benin. You will experience an intense work-life and gain invaluable expertise along the way.

At Jan De Nul, we give talented people like you opportunities and responsibilities. You will supervise one of our projects worldwide during the execution phase.

• Start with four weeks of training: experts will teach you everything there is to know.
• Practice in one of our virtual simulators.
• Travel to the project where we need you the most, which could be anywhere in the world.
• Research the most cost-effective method to carry out the works.
• Supervise the works on a daily basis.
• Monitor health, safety, and quality standards closely.
• Report to the office in Aalst: you are their eyes and ears on board.
• Work closely with the crew and captain.
• Come into contact with diverse situations during operational implementation.
• Rely on the support of your project manager and colleagues in different disciplines within the project team.

As an expat on one of our global projects, you will work within a different work regime, usually including:

• Two months of 12-hour work days, six days a week, followed by one month off.
• Demanding work that provides a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Qualifications

• A master’s degree in industrial sciences or a master’s in engineering sciences, or related master’s degree.
• The indispensable mindset of a solution seeker.
• The passion to dive into the world of dredging solutions.
• Planning and organization talent.
• Teamwork skills.
• Thirst for adventure, coupled with an independent spirit.
