Role Description

We are looking for a Part-Time Engineering Draftsperson – Hydraulics to support the preparation, revision, and maintenance of technical drawings and documentation for hydraulic systems and related engineering projects. The ideal candidate has strong CAD drafting skills, understands hydraulic systems and components, and can translate engineering concepts, sketches, specifications, and markups into clear and accurate technical drawings.

• Prepare accurate 2D and/or 3D technical drawings for hydraulic systems, components, piping, and related mechanical assemblies.
• Develop and revise hydraulic schematics, layouts, piping drawings, and fabrication drawings based on engineering requirements.
• Translate sketches, markups, specifications, and engineering instructions into detailed CAD drawings.
• Update existing drawings to reflect design changes, revisions, and approved modifications.
• Prepare as-built drawings, layouts, and other technical documentation when required.
• Ensure drawings contain appropriate dimensions, annotations, symbols, specifications, and other relevant technical information.
• Assist in preparing drawings for hydraulic equipment and components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, manifolds, hoses, piping, fittings, and hydraulic power units.
• Review drawings for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and potential drafting issues before submission.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to clarify design requirements and incorporate revisions.
• Maintain organized CAD files, drawing registers, revisions, and other project documentation.
• Ensure drawings follow applicable drafting standards, project requirements, and client specifications.
• Support multiple drafting tasks and deliver outputs within agreed timelines.
• Identify drawing inconsistencies, clashes, or missing information and raise them with the appropriate technical personnel.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Engineering Draftsperson, Mechanical Draftsperson, Hydraulic Draftsperson, CAD Draftsperson, or similar role.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD or an equivalent CAD drafting platform.
• Demonstrated experience creating and revising technical/engineering drawings.
• Practical understanding of hydraulic systems and components.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, hydraulic schematics, and technical specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a fully remote setup.
• Reliable computer, stable internet connection, and appropriate equipment for remote CAD work.
• Portfolio or sample technical drawings demonstrating relevant drafting experience.

Requirements

• Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, or technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Drafting, Mechanical Design, or a related field (Nice to Have).
• Experience with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Revit, or similar 3D CAD software (Nice to Have).
• Experience with hydraulic power units (HPUs), mobile hydraulics, industrial hydraulics, or fluid power systems (Nice to Have).
• Experience producing drawings for manufacturing or fabrication (Nice to Have).
• Familiarity with Australian Standards (AS/NZS) or Australian engineering projects (Nice to Have).
• Experience working with Australian engineering, manufacturing, mining, construction, or industrial clients (Nice to Have).
• Knowledge of BOM preparation, material specifications, and component identification (Nice to Have).
• Previous experience working with international/remote engineering teams (Nice to Have).
