Role Description

The Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher – CONTRACTOR is responsible for providing virtual adaptive physical education services to eligible special education students enrolled in virtual public schools within the STAGES/Stride network. Services are provided in accordance with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and may include evaluations, direct services, consultation, records reviews, and participation in special education processes.

The APE Teacher collaborates with students, families, educators, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to promote access to physical education, motor skill development, physical fitness, and participation in age-appropriate physical activities within home and community environments.

This is an Independent Contractor position (1099). Residency Requirements: Must reside in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience providing Adaptive Physical Education services to students with disabilities in educational settings.
• Experience conducting evaluations, records reviews, and developing individualized recommendations.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and participating in the IEP process.
• Valid teaching certificate in accordance with state requirements.
• Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) Adapted Physical Education Endorsement required.
• Ability to maintain all required credentials and endorsements throughout the duration of the contract.

Requirements

• Experience providing services within virtual, online, or remote educational environments.
• Experience conducting virtual evaluations, consultations, and direct services.
• Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and virtual meeting platforms.
• Ability to pass background checks.
