[Hiring] Video Ad Editor @Exchange Life

Role Description

You'll make short-form video ads for TikTok, Reels and Meta in many different formats. The main skill is adapting fast to any format and making it perform. Every ad is judged on hook rate, retention and spend.

This is a long-term role. Many of our editors have been with us 2+ years, and the people who now set our creative direction started as editors here. You'll work closely with our Content Lead and Marketing team in a small team that moves fast and talks daily.

Where You'll Be in Six Months:

• Senior Video Ad Editor.
• You can reach this title in your first six months if your work earns it.
• At that level you own concepts end to end, decide which formats and angles we test next, get real spend behind your ads, and start reviewing other editors' cuts.

What Success Looks Like:

• After 3-6 months, you're making ads in many formats that scale on paid and perform organically, with 50%+ thumb-stop rates and 30%+ hold rates.
• You pick up new formats fast and build on winners without needing direction.

Qualifications

• A strong recent portfolio of short-form video ads in several formats (20+ from the last few months).
• Comfortable directing AI tools (Claude/ChatGPT) to script, storyboard and generate video, then finishing in CapCut.
• Sharp eye for detail: products in your ads must match the real product, and you own the final output.
• You can watch a winning video ad and break down exactly what made it work.
• You can read metrics (hook rate, retention, watch time, spend) and know what to change in the next cut.
• You take feedback and don't repeat the same mistake twice.
• Highly skilled in CapCut Pro or a similar editing tool.
• Strong written and spoken English, and able to work on your own.

Requirements

• Experience cutting video ads for e-commerce or DTC brands.
• Experience working with Meta or TikTok ad account data.
• A track record of ads that scaled on paid.

• Base: $4 to $20 USD/hour depending on experience ($700 to $3,500/month full-time).
