Role Description

We are looking for a talented and experienced Technical Gameplay Animator who is ready to let their work create a unique and fun multiplayer ARPG combat style. Working closely together with the animation and development teams, you will own how animation is turned into a great gameplay feel. This position requires a high level of mastery with Unreal Engine to achieve the best looking and feeling combat in a modern multiplayer action RPG.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate and maintain all character combat animations inside Unreal Engine.
  • Polish combat timing, transitions, cancels, anticipation, hit reactions and more to edge out perfect responsiveness and impact.
  • Add gameplay juice through tight synchronization with VFX and audio.
  • Become an avid playtester, integrating your own product findings with those of others, players or fellow designers and developers.
  • Collaborate with the design team with thoughtful feedback and suggestions on what is needed to get to great feeling action combat.
  • Debug and optimize the overall animation pipeline for player and enemy interactions.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a Technical Animator on shipped action combat games.
  • Strong proficiency in Unreal Engine animation components and integrating animations from Maya.
  • Deep understanding of animation principles as they apply to gameplay.
  • Solid experience with character rigging and skinning in Maya or similar tools.
  • A portfolio or reel of polished in-game combat and gameplay animations.
  • Ability to work iteratively and independently in a small team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for making combat feel great.
  • Fluent English.
