Role Description
PetLab Co. is a leader in the DTC pet supplement market, with 9-figure revenue. We're profitable and growing fast around the world.
In performance marketing, a Video Editor does more than make things look good. Every cut, hook and caption you make exists to stop the scroll, hold attention and drive a purchase. You'll be judged on how your ads perform, not on how cinematic they are.
This is a Mid weight, editing-led role for someone with a proven track record of AI-powered performance ads. You'll produce high volumes of ads for Meta, TikTok and YouTube that are built to convert. You'll mix UGC, creator footage, stock, and AI-generated video, avatars and voiceovers.
You'll work closely with our Creative Strategists, Paid Media, Video Producers, Organic Social and Influencer teams. This isn't a cut-to-brief role. You'll bring your own ideas, write scripts and hooks, and help shape the creative strategy behind ads that scale customer acquisition and revenue.
What You'll be Responsible For
-
Performance Video Editing:
-
Editing short-form video ads for Meta, TikTok and YouTube from briefs supplied by our Creative Strategists.
-
Writing hooks for the first 3 seconds, keeping the pacing tight, and making sure something visual changes every 2β3 seconds to hold attention.
-
Adding captions, text overlays, sound design, music and clear calls-to-action that suit each platform.
-
Cutting UGC, creator, influencer, studio and stock footage into native-feeling ads.
-
Exporting in 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 and 16:9, with files named and organized so media buyers can launch right away.
-
Testing new AI tools to give you that extra edge!
-
Creative Strategy & Scripting:
-
Writing direct-response scripts, hooks and CTAs for UGC, creator, AI-avatar and product ads.
-
Pitching new concepts and angles based on performance data, customer pain points and trending formats.
-
Working with our Creative Strategists to turn insights into briefs, storyboards and shot lists.
-
Adapting winning scripts into new angles, personas and hook variations for testing.
-
Bringing an editor's eye to strategy: spotting what will hold attention before it's made.
-
AI Video Production:
-
Generating AI video, AI avatars/spokespeople, product B-roll and lifestyle scenes with tools such as Veo, Kling, Runway, Higgsfield, HeyGen and Arcads.
-
Creating AI voiceovers and localized versions with tools such as ElevenLabs.
-
Fixing AI outputs so they hold up as real ads: character consistency, product accuracy and overall realism.
-
Using AI to speed up editing, such as auto-captions, transcript-based editing, upscaling and cleanup.
-
Building repeatable AI workflows and templates, and sharing what works with the team.
-
Iteration & Testing:
-
Producing many versions of winning ads with new hooks, intros, avatars, lengths and messaging.
-
Building versions that change one variable at a time for structured A/B tests (for example, Hook A vs Hook B).
-
Reviewing performance data (Hook Rate, Hold Rate, CTR, CPA, ROAS) and drop-off points with the team, then re-editing to fix weak spots.
-
Studying competitor and trending ads so PetLab's creative stays native to each platform.
Qualifications
-
4+ years of video editing experience, including at least 2 years focused on paid social ads for DTC or eCommerce brands.
-
Proven experience creating AI-powered ads and creative. Your portfolio must include AI-generated ads you made, with the tools you used and your role in each.
-
Hundreds, ideally thousands, of paid social ads produced across your career, with measurable results (e.g. ROAS, CPA, scaled spend).
-
Strong written and spoken English, with the confidence to present ideas, take feedback and work with a global team.
-
AI video tools as part of your daily workflow, not something you're still learning (e.g. Veo, Kling, Runway, Higgsfield, HeyGen, Arcads, ElevenLabs).
-
Expert skills in Premiere Pro and/or CapCut; After Effects, DaVinci Resolve or motion graphics are a plus.
-
A strong grasp of what makes an ad convert: hooks, pacing, retention, offers and CTAs, and the ability to write a direct-response script, not just cut one.
-
Working knowledge of performance metrics (Hook Rate, Hold Rate, CTR, CPA, ROAS) and how editing choices affect them.
-
The speed and organization to deliver a high volume of ads each week without the quality dropping.
-
Experience in fast-moving, feedback-heavy creative teams at a high-growth brand or performance agency.
-
Bonus points if you love animals. Experience with pet or health and wellness brands is a real plus.
Requirements
-
Please note: we won't move forward with portfolios made up only of general editing, YouTube, cinematic, corporate or wedding work. This role is for editors who specialize in performance advertising.
Benefits
-
20 days PTO excluding bank holidays.
-
Company Bonus.
-
Medical, Vision and Dental Insurance.
-
Generous Learning and development budget.
-
Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance.
-
Life Insurance.
-
401K.
-
Work Remote.
-
Monthly Internet Stipend.
