[Hiring] Freelance Artwork Trafficker @Factory 209 t/a Gradlinc

Role Description

We are developing more than 200 graded readers for South African schools. They cover Grades 4 to 6 at Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels, in five African languages: isiXhosa, isiZulu, Sepedi, Sesotho and Setswana. A team of illustrators is creating new artwork and updating existing pictures for every book. We need organised people to keep that artwork moving from brief to final file, on time and error-free.

What you’ll do:

• Track every artwork brief, rough and final on our illustration logs (more than 1,000 pages of artwork)
• Send briefs and reference pictures to illustrators, and follow up on batch deadlines
• Check roughs and finals against the brief and the story text:
• Are the characters the same from page to page?
• Does the picture match the text (day or night, who is in the scene, objects the text mentions)?
• Is the size right, at 300 dpi?
• Is there any lettering in the art that shouldn’t be there?
• Record artwork corrections clearly, and check that they’ve been done
• Name, file and version every image correctly, so nothing is lost or overwritten
• Flag problems early and keep our project manager updated
