Role Description

The Specialist: Analyst is responsible for analysing requirements and extracting and documenting functional and non-functional system requirements. The role plays a key part in bridging business requirements with technical delivery by translating client requirements into well-defined system requirements and effectively communicating these requirements to the Software Development and Quality Assurance teams.

The Specialist: Analyst is responsible for feature and enhancement design, data flow through the system, and ensuring that solutions meet functional and non-functional acceptance criteria. The role also involves checking, documenting, and coordinating the resolution of escalated defects, verifying implemented changes against requirements, and facilitating the handover of completed releases to the Application Deployment & Support team.

While the role may initially focus on a primary domain or product, it is designed to progressively build cross-domain and cross-product expertise through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and cross-skilling. The Specialist: Analyst will contribute to ensuring solutions remain aligned with business objectives, customer needs, compliance standards, and product strategy.

Qualifications

• Matric.
• An appropriate IT qualification, such as Computer Science or Information Technology, will be beneficial.
• Relevant certifications, such as Agile BA, Azure, SQL/BI, or ITIL, will be beneficial.
• 3 years or more of analysis experience.
• 3 years of Medical Industry IT knowledge will be an advantage.
• Working knowledge of healthcare systems and the medical industry is advantageous, including medical claims, medical software, switching, and clinical systems.
• SQL and database knowledge, including SQL and NoSQL technologies.
• Sound understanding of web technologies.
• Sound understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Understanding of information security and governance.
• Understanding of cloud technologies and service platforms.
• UML knowledge will be beneficial.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with fluency in English.
• Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
• Organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Technology and system savvy.
• Quality orientation and numeracy skills, including an understanding of basic accounting principles such as debits and credits.

Requirements

• Meet and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to establish project scope, system goals, and requirements.
• Develop, analyse, prioritise, and organise requirement specifications, data mapping, diagrams, integration mappings, and flowcharts for developers and testers to follow.
• Translate technical specifications into clear, non-technical requirements.
• Translate technical release notes into non-technical release notes.
• Analyse business requirements, defects, and system failures.
• Provide guidance on current system features and functionality.
• Document and present requirements and proposed solutions to customers.
• Provide documentation of all processes and training as needed.
• Provide input into test plans and test scenarios.
• Assist with quality verification and the design process.
• Identify potential risks and issues and provide input into risk mitigation plans.
• Provide input on prioritisation, planning, and product roadmaps.
• Check, document, plan for the resolution of, and communicate escalated defects to the Software Development and Quality Assurance teams.
• Verify implemented changes against requirements once development and testing are completed.
• Facilitate the handover of new software releases to the Application Deployment & Support team.
• Promote knowledge sharing and teamwork across functions.
• Cross-skill to work towards supporting multiple domains and products.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including Application Deployment & Support, Sales, Strategic Growth, Software Development and Quality Assurance, Business Operations Enablement, and Legal/Risk & Compliance.
• Engage with external customers, partners, and suppliers to analyse business requirements and present proposed solutions.
• Contribute to improved throughput, reduced rework, and alignment with modernisation and transformation initiatives.
• Willingly rotate, learn, and support other analysts while utilising modern tools and approaches.
