Role Description

Kentro is hiring for a SAM Data Team Lead to support the VA ESOM contract. We are looking for a skilled and analytically driven SAM Remediation Data Team Lead to support the Department of Veterans Affairs’ enterprise-wide Software Asset Management (SAM) Remediation on ServiceNow. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and software asset intelligence, responsible for leading the data team, designing, building, and maintaining the analytics infrastructure that enables data-driven decision-making across the SAM program.

The ideal candidate combines deep ServiceNow Platform Analytics expertise and management experience with strong data modeling skills and a passion for translating complex data into actionable compliance and optimization insights. This is a critical role in advancing the VA’s SAM maturity and ensuring stakeholders have the intelligence they need to manage software assets effectively at enterprise scale.

Location: Remote - This position can be performed remotely within the United States and will support Eastern Time working hours.

Compensation Range: The anticipated base salary range for this position is $115,000 – $165,000 annually.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership
  • Lead and manage the SAM Data Team, providing day-to-day oversight.
  • Mentor, support, and guide staff in career development.
• ServiceNow Platform Analytics Design and Implementation
  • Design, build, and maintain ServiceNow Platform Analytics reports and dashboards.
  • Translate stakeholder reporting requirements into functional analytics solutions.
  • Ensure dashboards and reports are performant, accurate, and accessible.
  • Establish and document standards for report naming conventions and dashboard governance.
• Data Modeling and Integration
  • Design and implement data models that support software asset tracking.
  • Identify, evaluate, and integrate relevant external data sources into ServiceNow.
  • Collaborate with integration engineers to ensure data pipelines are reliable.
  • Maintain data quality standards, including validation rules and exception handling procedures.
• Predictive Analytics and Compliance Intelligence
  • Develop predictive analytics models and trend analyses.
  • Build automated alerting and exception reporting.
  • Support software optimization analysis.
  • Partner with stakeholders to align analytics outputs with program goals.
• Reporting, Documentation, and Stakeholder Support
  • Produce recurring and ad hoc analytics reports for project leadership.
  • Translate complex data findings into clear narratives and visualizations.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of data models and report logic.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data science, or a related field (8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education).
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or business intelligence.
• Hands-on experience with ServiceNow, including Platform Analytics.
• Demonstrated experience designing data models and building analytics solutions.
• Strong proficiency in data query languages and tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI).
• Experience working with software asset management or IT asset management data.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working in federal or compliance-driven environments strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) Pro module.
• Familiarity with predictive analytics or machine learning techniques.
• Experience integrating external data sources into ServiceNow.
• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or equivalent certification.
• IAITAM Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or equivalent certification.
• Experience supporting VA or other federal agency IT modernization programs.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.

Clearance Requirement

• US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card).
• Willing and able to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance.
