Role Description

This role involves leading the strategic design and implementation of a robust self-serve product ecosystem that prioritizes user empowerment through data accessibility and insights.

  • Develop a high performing robust data ecosystem to support business reviews, new product introductions, and key product performance metrics.
  • Transform practices to be data and customer insight driven.
  • Lead a team of Data Analysts and Data Scientists to execute on the R&D Data Vision & Strategy.
  • Provide valuable insights and influence actions that optimize customer experiences and operational practices.
  • Shape execution across business priorities and R&D KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Data Stewardship: Define, establish, and document standards and governance for consistent sources of truth.
  • Self-Serve Data Product Ecosystem: Lead a team to build a robust self-serve data product ecosystem.
  • Develop & Own Product Analytics Strategy for R&D: Define, implement, and optimize data-driven approaches.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and drive process improvements, automation, and development of analytic models.
  • Establish requirements for data collection & storage.
  • Target Setting: Regularly review target setting and monitoring for R&D’s KPIs.
  • Steer Critical Business Decisions: Leverage insights from customer behaviors to answer complex business questions.
  • Identify Growth Opportunities: Analyze data to identify growth opportunities.
  • Effective Collaboration: Collaborate with teams and executives to align data projects.
  • Data Driven Mindset: Cultivate a culture of data-driven decision-making.
  • Team Development: Build and lead a dedicated Business Intelligence team.
  • Partner with a Variety of Stakeholders: Ensure outcome alignment on critical R&D programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • 12+ years of experience in data analytics in an enterprise environment.
  • Proficiency using Python or R for data exploration and analysis.
  • Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, and Superset.
  • Experience leading, building, and managing business intelligence or data analytics teams.
  • Experience working with executive and board level reporting.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in management consulting, strategy & operations, communications, or a related field.
  • Experience with data/BI engineering, data warehousing, and distributed computing technologies.
  • Experience in data science or advanced analysis techniques.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to extract and manipulate data stored in relational and unstructured databases.
  • Strong Business Intelligence Skills: Combining business analytics, data visualization, and data mining.
  • Strong Understanding of Experimentation: Ability to lead a cross-functional team to test hypotheses.
  • Obsession with Understanding Customers: Track record of distilling insights from customer actions.
  • Ability to Influence: Drive business strategy through analytical insights.
  • Track record of developing a high performance team.
  • Effective Communication: Ability to communicate and influence at all levels of an organization.
  • Adaptability: Ability to pivot and adapt team strategy according to evolving business needs.
  • Ownership Mindset: Track record of ownership and accountability.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to align BI/Analytics initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to assess data needs and measure effectiveness of analytics initiatives.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing multiple training projects.
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to personal and professional development.

Location

This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.

Travel

Approximately 5-10% travel is anticipated to help connect in-person in a meaningful way.
