[Hiring] Contract Analytics Engineer @Pie Insurance - Contracts

Role Description

This is a hands-on analytics engineering role. You will build the Looker models the business actually uses and take modeled data in Snowflake the last mile into explores, dashboards, and trusted numbers. The work sits next to finance, billing, claims, pricing, and underwriting.

• Build and maintain the Looker explores, views, and dashboards that finance, billing, claims, pricing, and underwriting rely on.
• Model the data behind them in Snowflake and SQLDBM, including semantic views, to the team's standards so a metric means the same thing in Looker, in the warehouse, and in the AI agents built on top of them.
• Own the accuracy of the numbers: reconcile discrepancies, close definition gaps in the model, and meet SOX change standards on finance reporting.
• Turn stakeholder requests into scoped work tracked in Jira, with guidance from senior team members, and flag requirements that leave gaps.
• Partner with data engineering through GitHub, monitor data quality in Monte Carlo, and join the on-call rotation, responding to incidents and tracing root cause.
• Use AI tools for efficient development, help build the AI agents that answer business questions on top of our models, and stay accountable for whether the number is right.

Qualifications

• 2+ years as an analytics engineer, BI engineer, or analytics-focused data engineer.
• Advanced experience writing, optimizing and validating SQL queries.
• Experience with Looker (including LookML development) is strongly preferred. Candidates with strong, hands-on experience in other leading BI/visualization platforms such as Power BI or Tableau will also be considered.
• Experience modeling data for consumption, such as marts, semantic views, or dimensional models.
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into clear, scalable, and well-governed reporting/visualization solutions.
• Genuine passion for data quality — proactively identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving data issues, and implementing checks/monitoring that build organizational trust in the data.
• Strong communicator who can clearly explain data quality findings and build confidence in reporting across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Insurance and/or financial data experience preferred. SOX or audit familiarity strongly preferred. Willingness to learn the domain required.
• Daily use of AI tools in development, with the habit of checking what they write. Experience building AI agents or Python is a plus.
• Fluent written and spoken English, with at least four hours of daily overlap with US business hours.

• The position is fully remote and based in Brazil.
• Candidates must be authorized to work as contractors in Brazil.
