Role Description
This role involves handling routine non-complex to moderately complex non-injury Commercial and Specialty claims.
- Responsible for opening, investigating, evaluating, and settling auto claims
- Ensures compliance with Department of Insurance and other statutory requirements
- Adjusts higher-complexity liability claims including property damage claims and total losses
- Verifies coverage on policies with standard commercial symbols and/or specialty exposures
- Services physical damage exposures in collaboration with the casualty adjuster for claims with injury
Your work includes:
- Contacting insureds, claimants, and other involved parties to confirm loss details and applicable policy coverage
- Explaining claims process, next steps, and outcomes to involved parties
- Investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling first- and third-party auto/property damage claims from start to finish
- Takes inbound calls from customers and maintains an inventory of pending claims
- Conducting coverage and liability investigations
- Advising customers of available benefits, coverages, and liability outcomes
- Coordinating and overseeing the claims process; keeping customers informed
- Negotiating estimating damages and supplements
- Validating reparability and monitoring repairs
- Arranging towing, storage, and rental vehicles as needed
- Addressing subrogation and total loss responsibilities
- Ensuring compliance with specific state regulations and/or policy provisions
- Supporting other areas of claims as needed
- Actively shaping company culture (e.g., participating in employee resource groups, volunteering, etc.)
- Traveling as needed for role, including divisional/team meetings and other in-person meetings
- Fulfilling business needs, which may include investing extra time, helping other teams, etc.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or a minimum of one year of customer service experience in a virtual environment
- Must hold an Adjuster license for all applicable states or obtain license(s) within 90 days of completing the provided licensing training
- Basic math and moderate computer skills with technical aptitude to utilize a variety of software applications
- Must meet work from home requirements including internet speeds and designated workspace
- Ability to type 30 wpm
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Two or more years of customer service experience preferred
- Prior insurance claims experience also preferred
- Bilingual a plus!
- Auto physical damage training and/or I-CAR or SCLA enrollment preferred
- Strong Customer Service skills for both internal/external customers
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Active contributor to team success
- Flexibility to work between the hours of 7AM to 7PM PDT, including occasional weekends and/or holidays
