Role Description

Provide high-quality customer service to current and former students through inbound and outbound phone calls, text messages, and emails regarding their federal student loans. Responsibilities include:

• Assisting students with exit counseling requirements.
• Working proactively to prevent loan delinquency or default.
• Guiding borrowers through repayment options, including the Income Driven Repayment (IDR) application process.
• Connecting borrowers with their loan servicers.

Default Management Functions include:

• Exit counseling requirements which involve speaking with or responding to emails from active and former students.
• Assisting former students to bring their loan account current through calls, texts, emails, skip-tracing, and conference calls to loan servicers.
• Maintaining and updating student files to ensure that information on their account is accurate, complete, and up to date.
• Serving as a liaison between borrowers and loan servicers or the Department of Education.
• Connecting new enrollments or active students who are currently in default with the Department of Education or with loan servicers.
• Following up, advising, and guiding borrowers through the IDR application process.
• Meeting weekly and monthly metrics/goals.
• Other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
• Preferred knowledge of Title IV funding and National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).
• Preferred experience in a call center environment.

• G Suite tools: Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, and Google Chat.
• Ability to interface with staff and external relationships in a professional manner, including a demonstrated commitment to customer service.

Requirements

• This is a fully remote position that requires a dedicated, quiet, and distraction-free workspace with a reliable internet connection.
• The expected salary range for this role is between $40,000 - $45,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
