Role Description

Compassion’s Global Communications team is building the future of how we inspire, inform and align staff across the global ministry. We are looking for an experienced communicator who can serve as a trusted communications partner to leaders and teams while connecting their needs to Compassion’s broader enterprise priorities.

The Communications Specialist III is an experienced communications advisor, strategist and tactician. This person builds strong relationships with internal clients, assesses communication needs and opportunities, and develops thoughtful strategies and tactics that advance ministry goals and contribute to an integrated enterprise communications plan.

This role requires someone who can move comfortably between strategy and execution—advising leaders, developing plans, shaping compelling narratives, writing communications, embracing emerging AI tools and technologies, and collaborating across teams to bring the work to life.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
• Act as an advocate to raise awareness of the needs of children.
• Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors.
• Build and steward trusted relationships with assigned leaders and teams.
• Assess communication needs and opportunities, provide strategic counsel, and develop plans and tactics.
• Craft and implement integrated communication strategies and plans.
• Translate complex organizational decisions into clear narratives and communications.
• Partner across functions, regions, and stakeholder groups.
• Produce clear and approachable written materials across various formats.
• Use AI and emerging communications technologies thoughtfully and responsibly.
• Measure the effectiveness of communication efforts and apply insights to future strategies.
• Serve as a brand and culture ambassador.
• Periodically serve in a public speaking, facilitation or training capacity.
• May support team leadership activities such as leading projects or managing budgets.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience in internal communications, corporate communications or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience partnering with leaders or internal clients.
• Strong strategic thinking and the ability to connect communication needs to organizational goals.
• Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills.
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience developing and executing communications across multiple channels.
• Curiosity and comfort using AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies.
• Ability to move fluidly between strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
• Experience using measurement and audience insights to evaluate communications.
• Experience working collaboratively across functions, teams or geographies.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
