[Hiring] AI and Business Automation Lead @Somewhere

Role Description

As the first operations hire, you will design, build, and run the automation and AI layer that sits underneath our client's business, ensuring their internal operations match the sophistication of their product. This is a highly autonomous, cross-functional role where you will:

• Map workflows, identify where time and information are lost, and implement necessary AI assistants, workflows, and integrations to fix them.
• Work directly with the founders and department heads, owning the scope, delivery, and upkeep of internal systems end-to-end to transform the company into a genuinely AI-native organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze Business Workflows:
  • Sit with cross-functional teams to map how work actually flows, identifying bottlenecks, manual hand-offs, and areas where time is lost.
• Design and Build Automations:
  • Automate rule-based work using no-code and low-code tools (and scripting where necessary) to eliminate manual re-keying and chasing.
• Implement Internal AI Solutions:
  • Apply AI capabilities (classification, routing, extraction, summarization, and assistants) where human judgment is typically involved, ensuring daily use by real teams.
• Build Cross-Functional Feedback Loops:
  • Connect sales, customer support, product, and finance systems so that insights and client data move automatically between departments without human intervention.
• Ensure Data Security & Compliance:
  • Handle company and client data strictly in line with ISO 27001, GDPR, and HIPAA controls, defining what data may interact with external AI tools.
• Train and Enable Teams:
  • Run training sessions, write documentation, and drive company-wide adoption to ensure automations are maintained and utilized.
• Measure and Report Impact:
  • Track and report time returned, errors removed, and manual work eliminated to the founders on a regular basis.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in business analysis, specifically facilitating requirements gathering and measurably improving how work flows across departments (Required).
• Track record of building and maintaining process automations in production across multiple business systems using no-code or low-code platforms (Required).
• Technical integration experience, including handling APIs, webhooks, and data transformation (Required).
• Hands-on experience deploying AI in daily business use (e.g., assistants, agents, prompt engineering, context design) and connecting AI to business systems via standards like MCP (Required).
• Genuine independence with the technical ability to scope, build, ship, and support your own work without heavily relying on engineering or DevOps (Required).
• Excellent written and spoken English, paired with a strong ability to train teams and drive tech adoption (Required).

Preferred Qualifications

• Scripting experience (Python, JavaScript, or similar) to handle tasks beyond low-code limits (Preferred).
• Background in B2B SaaS, ideally working with enterprise clients and real compliance obligations (Preferred).
• Industrial engineering or similar background in systems thinking (Preferred).
• Familiarity with a modern business stack (CRM, customer support, knowledge base, cloud) (Preferred).
