[Hiring] Welfare Benefits Advisor @Tenovus Cancer Care

Role Description

Work in our Welfare Benefits Advice Team. We’re looking for an experienced Welfare Benefits Advisor to join our Benefits Advice AQS accredited team on a Welsh government funded full time basis over the next 18 months.

• Deliver Welfare Benefits Advice across the North West Wales area.
• Build relationships with community partners and generate welfare benefit advice referrals.
• Manage cases and support a range of welfare benefit clients affected by cancer.
• Advise and assess needs to ensure clients receive their entitlements related to their cancer diagnosis.
• Work independently and build strong referral relationships within hospitals.
• Most of the role is home based, but you need to be within commutable distance of the Betsi Cadwalader Northwest Wales region.
• Willingness to be mobile and work a minimum of a day fortnightly across the Betsi Cadwaladr area.
• Occasional work at Cardiff City Centre Head Office for team meetings or training.

Qualifications

• Experience in partnership working with hospital colleagues to build a professional referral network.
• Ability to work well remotely and communicate impartially and sensitively.
• Experience managing a welfare benefits advice caseload independently.
• Ability to represent service users at Benefit Appeal Tribunals.
• Demonstrated skills in managing a service user caseload and dealing with DWP and Local Authorities.
• Proven ability to deliver up to date welfare benefits advice to a specialist level.
• Experience in gathering advice and communicating information sensitively.
• Ability to manage and prioritize workload proactively.
• Experience in building effective partnerships and professional networks.
• Strong interpersonal skills to adapt to different audiences.

• Enhanced DBS check required.
