[Hiring] Volunteer Coordinator @Presbyterian Childrens Homes and Services

Today - Presbyterian Childrens Homes and Services is hiring a remote Volunteer Coordinator. 💸 Salary: unspecified 📍Location: USA

Role Description

A world where every child is safe, every family is strong, and hope outshines hardship. We help children heal from trauma so they can build healthy relationships, succeed in education and discover their own world of opportunities and possibilities. This happens by engaging a child in the context of their family issues. We know that, to end a cycle of abuse or trauma, we must work with children to clarify their thoughts and feelings and get a realistic view of each family member’s role in their life.

Under the supervision of the Senior Development Manager, based in San Antonio, Texas, this 10-hour per week position primarily recruits and trains individuals to serve the agency on a regular basis as “Authorized Volunteers.” PCHAS Authorized Volunteers complete state mandated background checks and agency required training. Secondarily, this position recruits and trains Volunteer Groups who desire to serve the agency on special occasions. Very little travel is required, and the employee is expected to work from home. Extra hours are available during sorting days (two weeks) of each in-kind campaign.

Essential Job Functions

  • Meets online with the Senior Development Manager on a weekly basis to discuss recruitment progress of new Authorized Volunteers and Volunteer Groups.
  • Attends occasional online meetings with program and development staff to learn of new areas needing support from Authorized Volunteers and Volunteer Groups.
  • Recruits Authorized Volunteers and Volunteer Groups to teach life-skills to client-parents, plan and implement children’s activities during parent trainings, organize supply and in-kind gift closets, collect and sort donated school supplies, and collect and sort donated Christmas gifts.
  • Recruits Authorized Volunteers and Volunteer Groups to assist program staff who organize activities for their families, and development staff who organize fundraising events by researching, posting, and maintaining PCHAS volunteer opportunities through online volunteer boards.
  • Recruits Authorized Volunteers and Volunteer Groups by meeting with community groups, church groups, and companies interested in promoting volunteer opportunities to their staff or members.
  • Responds in a timely manner to calls and emails from prospective and current Authorized Volunteers and Volunteer Groups.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

The Coordinator of Volunteers works from home and functions efficiently using their own computer, phone, and a provided PCHAS email address. This person should be outgoing and able to accurately communicate (verbally and in writing) with individuals and large groups. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and have a flexible schedule. Mileage and meal reimbursements are provided when travel is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience working as a volunteer or serving a non-profit organization.
  • Organized and able to work well with adults who desire to have a positive impact.
  • Trustworthy and able to maintain confidences in all matters relating to clients and the agency.
