[Hiring] Veteran Intern (General Office Assistant) @State of Michigan

Role Description

This is a contracted appointment that may last up to two years in duration. Paid internships occur throughout the State of Michigan.

• Answers and routes multi-line telephone calls to appropriate personnel.
• Takes accurate telephone messages in a timely manner.
• Maintains a professional manner when working with customers, members of the legislature, executive office, and other departments.
• Retrieves and compiles data, prepares reports, and operates standard office equipment.
• Interprets and applies instructions and guidelines to resolve work issues.
• Makes decisions to take appropriate actions.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
• No specific type or amount of experience is required.

Requirements

• Be an honorably discharged veteran.
• Attach a copy of your DD-214 to your application.
• Attach a detailed resume and cover letter.
• MDOT does not participate in E-Verify and does not sponsor visa applications.
• All newly hired state employees are required to submit and pass a pre-employment drug test and physical (if applicable) prior to their actual appointment.
• Criminal and driving records will also be checked if applicable.
