[Hiring] Territory Production Underwriter @Nationwide

Role Description

This is a remote/work-from-home (WFH) production underwriting role focused on Commercial Lines Middle Market accounts within the Human Services and Nonprofit industry segment.

• Territory: New England (CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT)
• Potential for 1-2 states in another region, depending on business need
• Must be able to regularly travel to key agency partners throughout the assigned territory (at least 25 agency visits per year)
• Preferably based in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast regions

As a Territory Manager, you'll market, manage and underwrite commercial business with select agencies or brokers. Responsibilities include:

• Driving profit and premium to meet financial goals and objectives
• Developing, negotiating and implementing business plans
• Creating sales strategies and implementing sales processes
• Collaborating with internal business partners

Qualifications

• Multi-line commercial insurance underwriting experience, including underwriting authority
• Human Services and Nonprofit industry-specific experience
• Strong business development skills, with a production & agency management orientation
• At least five years of experience handling Human Services and Nonprofit accounts
• Strong skill set in underwriting Casualty lines, including General Liability, Professional Liability, and Abuse & Molestation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Relevant professional designation such as CPCU or CIC preferred
• Seven years of progressively more responsible underwriting and sales experience in commercial business preferred
• Detailed working knowledge of commercial underwriting, pricing and coverage for middle market business
• Excellent interpersonal and sales skills
• Ability to build and maintain cooperative and mutually rewarding internal and external partnerships
• Demonstrated decision-making ability required in day-to-day operations
