Responsibilities

• Serve as Underwriting and Portfolio Health Subject-Matter Expert (SME)
• Mentor Policy Servicing Clerk team members, fostering a culture of excellence and integrity.
• Collaborate with other departments to develop and deploy Portfolio Health initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with regulations related to underwriting action and communication.
• Define process vision, guiding principles, strategy, future state design, and success metrics for the Portfolio Health verticals.
• Design, document, and implement end-to-end processes, including scope definition, workflows, process maps, and operating standards for process outcomes including efficiency, compliance, and customer experience.
• Ensure consistent application of standards across regions, functions, and teams.
• Establish KPIs and monitoring frameworks.
• Collaborate across teams to implement process enhancements and resolve cross-functional conflicts while ensuring alignment to enterprise priorities.
• Serve as an escalation point and decision authority for process design.
• Champion continuous improvement culture.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of auto insurance as a whole.
• Prior auto underwriting experience.
• Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
• Driven and motivated to improve processes and technology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong collaborator.
• Excited for the opportunity to build out the Underwriting and Portfolio Health department of a start-up in “growth mode” and evolve the philosophy as our business matures.

Additional Knowledge and Skills

• Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work.
• Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias.
• Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights.
• Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation.
• Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection.

Experience

• 5+ years of relevant business or operations experience required.
• 3+ years auto underwriting experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred.

Salary Range

The base range for this role is: $73,500 - $115,000. The exact salary and compensation will vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience, and education.

This role is eligible to participate in a performance-based incentive plan. Full-time employees are eligible to participate in health benefits on day one of employment.
