About The Role
You’ll be working as an Australian Conveyancer at Odin Mortgage in Australia, collaborating with our global team to deliver exceptional service to clients. Your remuneration and responsibilities will be:
Remuneration:
- AU$75,000 - AU$95,000 salary plus superannuation
- Volume-based incentives per settlement completed
Conveyancing Responsibilities:
- Transaction Management: Prepare and review conveyancing documents (e.g., contracts of sale, transfer documents, settlement statements), ensuring compliance with Australian property law.
- Client Liaison: Serve as the main contact for expat clients, offering clear updates and guidance during property transactions.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Work with mortgage brokers, lenders, agents, and external conveyancers or solicitors to ensure smooth settlements.
- Title Checks: Perform title searches, confirm ownership, and identify property encumbrances or restrictions.
- Settlement Oversight: Manage settlements, including using the PEXA platform and handling disbursements.
Expansion Responsibilities:
- Practice Establishment: Develop and implement processes, workflows, and best practices to establish a fully operational in-house conveyancing practice from the ground up, tailored to the needs of expat clients.
- Team Growth: Recruit, train, and mentor additional conveyancing staff as the practice expands, fostering a high-performing team to support increased transaction volumes.
- Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the conveyancing practice, including resource allocation, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement of service delivery standards.
- Scale Nationally: Plan and develop the Conveyancing business unit to deliver nation-wide settlement capabilities.
Requirements
Experience:
- Experience handling conveyancing matters from start to end independently
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in residential conveyancing, preferably with exposure to the Australian property market.
- Strong knowledge of Australian property law, including state-specific regulations (e.g., NSW, VIC, QLD).
- Proficiency with electronic conveyancing platforms such as PEXA.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients in plain English.
Desirable:
- Experience working with expatriate clients or an understanding of their unique needs (e.g., cross-border transactions, tax implications).
- Familiarity with mortgage brokering processes or lending requirements for expats.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote-friendly environment.
- Proficiency with CRM software and digital document management tools.
- Proven leadership or management experience in a conveyancing or legal setting.
- Ability to speak Chinese Mandarin or Chinese Cantonese
Qualifications:
- NSW conveyancing qualifications (minimum requirement), QLD and VIC qualifications/experience highly desirable
Skills:
- High degree of self-motivation, resourcefulness, discipline, and accountability to work autonomously.
- Strong knowledge of property law, contracts, and settlement procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions and work under pressure.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
