Role Description

The Senior Advisor has a portfolio of assigned fiscal sponsorship projects and is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with both the leadership of the project and the funders of the project. The Senior Advisor provides strategic advice for assigned client relationships involving frequent interaction with clients and active support for charitable project outcomes funded by various grants to the project. The Senior Advisor is the lead on a relationship supported by other team members to handle service transactions and support and guidance.

Accountabilities

• Portfolio Management: Lead the guidance and support for the delivery of a group of significant projects within a function, using an appropriate project management methodology to ensure intended outcomes are identified and achieved.
• Project Scope Definition: Lead the planning and delivery of a wide range of information gathering and stakeholder consultation activities, specifying, negotiating, and agreeing on RPA operational deliverables ensuring integration across the program.
• Project Risk and Issue Management: Manage identification of risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints associated with the project, escalating these where appropriate. Develop, agree on, and implement solutions to overcome these as necessary.
• Project Team Management: Lead team engagement; define guidance required to achieve outcomes, coordinate team actions across project activities, and build team capability through training, coaching, and mentoring.
• Business Analysis: Interpret philanthropic needs and identify solution recommendations to operational problems at a project unit level.
• Business Development: Support business development opportunities through cultivation of key external relationships, representing the organization in desirable networks, and generating proposals and related content as needed.

  • Use comprehensive knowledge and skills to work independently while providing guidance and training to others on planning, organizing, prioritizing, and overseeing activities to efficiently meet business objectives.

  • Negotiate independently while providing guidance and training to others on obtaining consensus between internal or external parties with differing interests.

  • Able to work independently or collaboratively as part of a broader client team as needed.
  • Contribute meaningful creative insights, original ideas, and strategic counsel that distinguishes the organization from competitors.
• Supervisory Responsibility:
  • Identify, acquire, and manage resources (physical and human) for the project, typically without supervision.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to Assistants, Associates, and Advisors as needed, providing guidance, feedback, and training.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s and graduate work or equivalent experience preferred.
• Previous professional experience in the philanthropic or related field with increasing responsibility (7-9 or more years of experience).
• An understanding of the broad spectrum of private philanthropy, including trends in giving and key issues.

• Must be willing to travel for client work as needed.

• United States Pay Range: $135,000-145,000 USD salary per year.
• EU Pay Range: €92,000 - 127,000 gross salary per year.
• United Kingdom Pay Range: £90,000-108,000 GBP gross salary per year.
