[Hiring] Qualitative Research Expert @Aflatoun

Role Description

Aflatoun International is seeking a qualitative research consultant to produce an article that captures the beliefs, experiences, and challenges related to the financial lives of our program participants in Indonesia. The consultant will:

• Prepare a field work plan with an interview guide.
• Conduct in-person and remote interviews at the location.
• Transcribe and analyze the data.
• Deliver an article of approximately 3,000 words.

The final article should:

• Detail the challenges that participants may face, especially financial challenges affecting parenting and the well-being of children.
• Detail how the program was implemented from the perspective of both the program implementers and the participants.
• Describe the relevance of the program content and the extent to which it addresses the participants' challenges in a human-centered narrative format.

Qualifications

• Academic qualification in Development Studies, Anthropology, Social Sciences or related field.
• Strong skills and experience in conducting qualitative research, focus group discussions, storytelling, and report writing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical, critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesian.
• Ability to work effectively in a small team with an international environment.
• Computer skills, including sound knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Graphic and video editing is a plus.
• Familiarity with topics in financial education/financial literacy, and the local contexts is a plus.

Requirements

• The consultant must be able to conduct fieldwork and in-person interviews in West Kalimantan.

Deliverables

• Develop the storytelling interview structure (0.5 days).
• Identify the groups/individuals for conducting interviews (0.5 days).
• Coordinate the logistics (1 day).
• Conduct qualitative data collection (3 days).
• Conduct remote interviews with partner NGOs (1 day).
• Transcribe and analyze interview data (2 days).
• Draft the final article and share it with Aflatoun (4 days).

Total: 12 days

Payment Schedule

The payment for 100% of the contract will be made upon submission and approval of the final article attached with the transcription and analysis.
