Role Description
- Work as a part of the Growth Team, reporting directly to the Growth Head.
- Responsible for product sourcing and procurement of goods for online sales to a global audience.

Product sourcing across categories like:
- Home and kitchen
- Toys and games
- Electronics
- Health and nutrition
- Fitness
- Fashion
- Accessories

Supplier Research:
- Find suppliers and/or manufacturers for planned product launches.
- Conduct online research and attend relevant tradeshows and exhibitions.

Supplier Evaluation:
- Shortlist and recommend suppliers based on cost and product quality.
- Order product samples from shortlisted suppliers for quality examination.

Product Compliance:
- Liaise with the legal team to ensure adherence to product compliance requirements as per local laws in all countries of sale.

Product Packaging:
- Build and maintain relationships with packaging suppliers.
- Enable communication between packaging suppliers and internal branding and design teams.

Negotiation:
- Lead negotiations with suppliers to ensure procurement at desired costs and timelines.

Purchase Paperwork:
- Prepare requests for quotes or proposals.
- Complete ownership of all paperwork for purchase transactions, including customs handling for international sourcing.

Goods Receiving and Inspection:
- Oversee transportation of goods to ensure timely delivery to warehouses.
- Accountable for stock quality and manage physical inspection of received shipments.

Supplier Relationships:
- Build and manage supplier relationships, holding them accountable for delays or poor stock quality.
- Drive solutions during incidents of delays or quality issues.

Inventory Management:
- Manage stock levels and oversee inventory updates.
- Responsible for placing timely reorders in consultation with marketing and sales teams.

Accountability for Timelines:
- Ensure adherence to internally agreed timelines with external suppliers.
- Improve and optimize processes for faster new launches.

Ownership of Solutions:
- Accountable for adherence to deadlines and goals while coordinating between external suppliers and internal teams.
- Propose solutions for any shortfalls or hiccups during the process.
- Work as part of a cross-functional squad for new private label launches and support other teams with day-to-day operations.
Qualifications
- 7-10 years of experience in product sourcing and buying for retail, D2C, or ecommerce companies, preferably with global exposure.
- Strong commercial awareness and good organizational skills.
- Critical, analytical, and math skills, as well as basic IT skills for handling Excel, purchase, and inventory software.
- Good communication and strong interpersonal skills, especially in negotiation.
- Ability to compare quality while evaluating similar products from multiple vendors.
- Experience in fast-paced environments like startups or new business divisions preferred.
- Excellent project management skills and willingness to take ownership of timelines.
- Solution-oriented with the ability to think clearly, logically, and laterally when presented with a problem.
- Ability to communicate freely and fluently and work efficiently in a remote team environment.
