[Hiring] Mobile Diesel & Trailer Technician II @Cox Enterprises

Role Description

COX FLEET is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel & Trailer Technician who will be responsible for:

• Performing licensed DOT inspections.
• Conducting Preventative Maintenance inspections.
• Executing light and follow-up repairs.
• Performing light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics.
• Learning additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques.
• Complying with all company policies and achieving high-level performance metrics.

Duties include:

• Performing scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT Inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Performing minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment, including:
  • Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems
  • Starters/Alternators
  • Fan clutches
  • Engine electronics
  • Diesel steering systems
  • Engines (gas and diesel)
  • Transmissions (manual and automatic)
  • Clutches
  • Differentials
• Diagnosing, adjusting, and repairing various types of trailer equipment and systems, including:
  • Aluminum and chem-lite
  • Trailer brakes
  • Air lines
  • Auxiliary pumps and engines
  • Liftgates
  • Brake chambers
  • Welding, fabrication, replacement of panels, body, and framework
• Inspecting, testing, and listening to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
• Road testing vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper functionality.
• Independently managing parts inventory and equipment provided on the company-issued service truck.
• Maintaining and operating the company-issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections.
• Working effectively with clients and customers to assess their needs and resolve issues.
• Managing concurrent assigned tasks and prioritizing work-related activities.
• Using hand tools, precision instruments, Diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
• Documenting work according to company standards and uploading pictures of work performed.
• Completing DOT forms and all other documentation in a timely fashion.
• Maintaining a high level of productivity and working within or close to most Standard Repair Times.
• Obtaining parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary.
• Communicating with management and support team via email or phone regarding repair estimates.
• Performing all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field.
• Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
• Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
• Must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
• A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical.
• Must be at least 21 years or older due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations.
• Safe drivers needed; 3-year MVR review required.
• Must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license.

Requirements

• ASE T3 (Drivetrain) certification (preferred).
• ASE T4 (Brakes) certification (preferred).
• ASE T5 (Suspension) certification (preferred).
• ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) certification (preferred).
• ASE T7 (HVAC) certification (preferred).
• ASE 608/609 certification (preferred).
