Role Description

The Estimator is responsible for being an organized, service-orientated individual to provide support to our sales staff with project quotes and pricing. The estimator will prepare a bill of material and cost estimates by analyzing proposals and requirements. This position will be responsible for communicating with a variety of departments, vendors, employees, and customers to ensure estimates are completed on time and appropriate paperwork is completed as per company and Customer specifications.

• Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
• If necessary, will visit Customer Site for job walk.
• Identifies labor, material, and time requirements based on the documents provided.
• Creates bill of materials (BOM), orders materials, and approves all material invoices.
• Computes costs by analyzing the labor, material, and time requirements.
• Requests quotes for equipment and Power components from suppliers.
• Performs Takeoffs and estimates for work position is quoting.
• Creates proposals and regularly follows up on prepared bids.
• Coordinates work with Sales staff, project managers, and General Manager.
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and industry publications.
• Contributes to team effort by meeting company and Customer expectations.
• All work and decisions shall be conducted in strict compliance with all regulatory law.
• Observes all safety rules and Best Practices; follows all company policies and procedures.
• Meets customers on-site and reviews and identifies their needs as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in related field or experience equivalency and a minimum of 5 years related experience.
• Ability to read and understand complex blueprints, schematics, parts lists, and additional technical materials for troubleshooting circuit breakers and electrical power equipment.
• Experience with AutoCAD and MS Office Suite.
• Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and peers.
• Dependable and responsible with good judgment and organizational skills.
• Good customer service, time management, and follow-up skills.
• Self-management of assigned projects and job cost accountability to perform work within budgeted cost estimates.
• Negotiation skills.
• Able to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
• Able to work with various people throughout the organization - Customer Focused.
• Focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Additional Information

• Type: Full-time
• Location: Wixom, MI
• Compensation: $46.00 to $64.00 USD, depending on skillset, certification, and experience, and eligible for overtime.
• Travel: 0-5% travel.
• Relocation: Relocation assistance is available for highly qualified candidates.
• Physical Demands: Occasionally lifting or moving a maximum of 50lbs on a daily basis, crawling, climbing, standing for long periods of time, and working in non-ideal conditions. Daily computer and phone work.
