[Hiring] Driver Education Training School Compliance Officer @State of North Carolina

Role Description

This position will be responsible for operations in the Eastern Part of North Carolina with options to work out of a satellite or remote location. The Driver Education Training School Compliance Officer (DETSCO) will oversee private-for-profit non-commercial driver education businesses and instructors. The selected candidate will serve as a resource for those entities to meet the statutory requirements and enforce the regulations.

The DETSCO candidate will perform the following:

• Conduct Basic Driver Education Instructor Courses (online or in person) using the existing 80 hour curriculum
• Develop new course curriculum or update existing materials as laws and regulations change
• Teach the Vision and Medical Screening Course required by G.S. 20-7(m)(1)
• Conduct the annual inspections required of existing commercial driver training school locations
• Conduct the inspections required before a new commercial driver training school location can open
• Conduct the classroom and in-car instructor observations required in 19A NCAC 03I .0500
• Conduct the facility and examiner inspections required of privatized road-testing organizations as allowed by G.S. 20-329
• Investigate complaints regarding commercial driver training schools and/or instructors
• Represent the Division at conferences and/or meetings regarding commercial driver training school activities
• Represent the Division at conferences and/or meetings regarding non-commercial driver education

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution
• Three (3) years of experience in the program related to the area of assignment
• Experience with teaching and training abilities related to the policies and procedures in accordance with NC DMV
• Knowledge of fundamental non-commercial driver education principles, methods, practices, skills, laws, and regulations

Requirements

• Experience analyzing and auditing information to make best practice decisions
• Experience providing instruction online and in-person classroom settings
• Knowledge of non-commercial driver education laws and regulations
• Experience preparing, writing, and delivering reports

• Salary Range: $52,592.00 - $92,036
