[Hiring] Digital Retail Consultant @TOMORROW

Role Description

We are hiring Digital Retail Consultants into our core consulting team. You will work directly on client engagements:

• Diagnosing what is happening in a retailer's digital business.
• Building the analysis that explains it.
• Helping shape the recommendation that the client's executive team acts on.

This is hands-on consulting work on real problems for large businesses. You do the research, build the model, build the slide, and present it yourself. There is no junior bench to hide on. Our teams are small, the work reaches the client's leadership quickly, and your thinking shows up in the room.

Engagements run as sprints of nine to twelve weeks and often carry on into implementation.

• Reports to: Engagement Manager
• Location: Remote, North America. East Coast strongly preferred, West Coast considered.
• Working hours: North American business hours, with enough overlap to work alongside our UK-based teams.
• Travel: To client sites as engagements require.
• Work authorization: You must independently hold the right to live and work where you are based. We are unable to provide sponsorship for this role.

What You’ll Work On

• Analyze a retailer's digital performance: channel mix, customer value, unit economics, execution, and where growth is really coming from.
• Build the market and competitor view: benchmarks, category dynamics, consumer shifts, and what good looks like in the client's market.
• Validate the fact base through expert interviews: speak to operators inside other retailers, not only the client, so the recommendation reflects how the business actually behaves.
• Turn analysis into a clear recommendation: structured so a senior retail executive can act on it.
• Build client-ready material: slides an executive reads in seconds, built from a blank page, and sections of three or four that hold together as one argument. Clear logic, clean structure, a story the room can follow.
• Run the workstream: interviews with client stakeholders, the data requests, the timeline, and the follow-through.
• Work at pace with AI and secondary sources: reach a defensible point of view quickly, then verify the parts the recommendation depends on before it reaches the client.
• Work across our client base and our geographies, alongside partners and engagement managers who have done the operating job themselves.

Qualifications

• Background: Three to five years minimum, with retail experience as the foundation. Consulting or digital commerce experience alongside it is a strong advantage. An MBA is preferred, not required.
• Retail fluency: You understand how a retail business actually works: margin, inventory, channel economics, and what changes when a customer moves online.
• Analytical judgment: You can take a messy problem, find the question that matters, and build the analysis that answers it.
• Communication: You write and present clearly, and you present your own work. You can take a recommendation to a senior executive, make the case in plain terms, and defend it when they push back.
• Financial literacy: Comfortable with the P&L. Can size an opportunity and test whether a recommendation pays for itself.
• Financial modelling: You build the model, not only read it. Equally comfortable in a raw data set or a BI tool, and able to recognize when an output does not hold.
• Adaptability: You work through the unknown. New category, new market, new client, you get productive fast.
• Self-direction: You work as an individual contributor inside a small team and carry your workstream forward without close supervision.

• Platform or marketplace background: Alongside retail operating experience, not instead of it.
• Both sides of the table: Retail operating experience and consulting experience in the same career.
