Role Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support and optimize mission-critical database infrastructure in a high-availability production environment. This is a 100% remote, full-time contract opportunity for professionals based in Latin America (LATAM), requiring availability during U.S. Central Time (CT) business hours. The initial contract duration is 6 months.

The selected professional will be responsible for:

• Administering, securing, monitoring, and optimizing production database systems.
• Ensuring high availability, operational stability, data integrity, and disaster recovery readiness.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of hands-on experience in Database Administration, supporting complex, high-availability production environments.
• Practical experience with both Microsoft SQL Server and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, with strong expertise in at least one of these technologies.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), particularly Amazon RDS and Aurora.
• Programming and scripting experience using Python or PowerShell for database administration and automation.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.
• Hands-on experience administering, monitoring, and troubleshooting Confluent Kafka.
• Strong knowledge of database performance analysis, query optimization, performance tuning, and complex issue resolution.
• Proven experience maintaining highly available production database systems.
• Experience planning and executing disaster recovery procedures.
• Knowledge of database security, access management, and data protection practices.
• Ability to collaborate with software engineering teams on technical requirements, system design, and production support.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to perform effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
• English proficiency: B2+, with the ability to communicate effectively in technical discussions.
• Must reside in Latin America (LATAM) and be available to work full-time during U.S. Central Time (CT) business hours.

Requirements

• Experience creating and managing Kafka connectors and topics.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB.
• Experience with Snowflake.
• Familiarity with additional relational databases, such as MySQL.
• Advanced Kafka expertise, including KSQL and Apache Flink.
