[Hiring] Data Protection & AI Governance Consultant @Private Luxury Events

Role Description

We're looking for an experienced Data Protection & AI Governance Consultant to independently review our current approach and help us establish practical, proportionate governance for a global business.

• Expert in data protection and AI governance.
• Help us understand what good looks like and where we need to improve.
• Make data protection and AI governance straightforward for daily users.
• Establish clear, practical guardrails for using data, technology, and AI confidently and responsibly.
• Understand the realities of data protection in an international organization.
• Work with stakeholders across various departments, providing independent expertise.

Scope of Services & Deliverables

• Conduct an independent current-state assessment of data protection and AI governance arrangements, identifying immediate and priority gaps.
• Complete a full gap assessment and prioritised remediation plan, distinguishing legal requirements, regulatory good practice, and organisational controls.
• Review existing policies, procedures, privacy documentation, tools register, AI assessment, and DPIA approach, simplifying and strengthening where appropriate.
• Review how data protection and AI governance work in practice, identifying unnecessary complexity.
• Establish a practical AI and technology governance process covering third-party technology and AI tools.
• Create clear and proportionate approaches to assessment, approval, documentation, and escalation.
• Provide an independent conclusion on whether a formal DPO is legally required, alongside recommendations for ongoing data protection governance.
• Test the resulting governance approach against real-world use cases.

Qualifications

• A relevant professional data protection/privacy qualification, supported by substantial practical experience.
• Expertise in data protection and privacy governance.
• Experience working with businesses that operate globally.
• Practical expertise in Microsoft 365 and Copilot.
• Expertise in AI governance, including generative AI and third-party AI tools.
• Proven experience reviewing practical implementations and turning findings into straightforward processes.
• Ability to make data protection and AI governance relatable.
• A practical, enabling approach to governance.
• Confidence to lead and challenge where needed.
• Ability to work comfortably with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience considering privacy and governance across enterprise platforms such as Salesforce is beneficial.
