[Hiring] Data Protection & AI Governance Consultant @M&I

Role Description

We're looking for an experienced Data Protection & AI Governance Consultant to independently review our current approach and help us establish practical, proportionate governance for a global business.

• Expert in data protection and AI governance.
• Make expertise accessible and understandable.
• Provide clear, practical guardrails for data, technology, and AI usage.
• Understand international data protection realities and translate them into workable practices.
• Work with stakeholders across the COO Office & Transformation, IT, HR, and AI implementation.

Qualifications

• A relevant professional data protection/privacy qualification.
• Substantial practical experience in data protection and privacy governance.
• Experience working with businesses that operate globally.
• Practical expertise in Microsoft 365 and Copilot.
• Expertise in AI governance, including generative AI and third-party AI tools.
• Proven experience in reviewing practical implementations of policies.
• Ability to make complex subjects relatable and pragmatic.
• Experience considering privacy and governance across enterprise platforms such as Salesforce (beneficial).

Requirements

• Conduct an independent current-state assessment of data protection and AI governance arrangements.
• Complete a full gap assessment and prioritised remediation plan.
• Review existing policies, procedures, privacy documentation, and tools register.
• Identify unnecessary complexity in data protection and AI governance processes.
• Establish a practical AI and technology governance process.
• Create clear approaches to assessment, approval, documentation, and escalation.
• Provide an independent conclusion on the necessity of a formal DPO.
• Test the governance approach against real-world use cases.
