Your Impact

Reporting to the Associate Director of Communications, you support the administration and execution of all communications initiatives. This role involves collaborating with internal teams to document and implement communication strategies that amplify the voices of Indigenous Youth.

 

Summary of Duties & Responsibilities

Administration:

  • Provide administrative support to the director, and entire department regarding scheduled postings, webpage updating, and other communications initiatives. 
  • Coordinate cross departmental tasks including Asana items, external communications, and necessary internal trainings and teachings.
  • Assist and coordinate external vendors in the completion of hired tasks for communication purposes.
  • Prepare correspondence, contracts, forms, reports, manuals, and presentations for the Director and other department staff members. 
  • Continuously improve administrative communications operations for efficiency and effectiveness.

Communications:

  • Track digital engagements, evaluate communication efforts, and generate reporting documentation to support communications assessments.
  • Summarize communication data to provide insights into audience engagement and refine strategies as needed.
  • Support in overseeing regular updates and posts to the company website, ensuring content is current, relevant, and aligned with the organization’s messaging.
  • Support in the creation of external communications, social media content, webpage blogs, and general copyright support.

Community Engagement:

  • Uphold and promote the organization’s cultural values and guiding principles in all workplace practices. 
  • Engage with the Indigenous community and support initiatives that strengthen relationships and collaboration. 

 

Health, Safety, and Wellness:

  • All employees are required to carry out their duties in a manner that does not adversely affect their own health and safety and that of others by reporting all potential hazards; and all incidents and injuries; as well as co-operating with any measures introduced in the workplace to improve OH&S. 

 

Other:  

  • Maintain high ethical standards and demonstrate integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness in all endeavours and communications. 
  • Support and participate in all IYR staff, department, and team meetings. 
  • Participate in external and internal committees, working groups, or projects as required. 
  • Undertake other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years in a communications, public relations, or related role (equivalent education may be considered). 
  • 1+ years experience working with Indigenous youth communities and organizations.
  • Previous administrative experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously would be an asset.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a high attention to detail.

Compensation:

  • Salary: $53,475-$62,558
  • Other: GRRSP employer contribution that is 5% of salary
  • Health benefits: will begin following a 3-month probationary period
  • Vacation: 3 weeks and statutory holidays, in addition to a 2-week winter closure
  • Personal Days: 15 days
  • Cultural Days: 5 days annually
  • Flexible Work Week Options: 4 and 5 Day work week options.
