Role Description
The Indigenous Research and Engagement Assistant supports the planning and implementation of a dissemination strategy for the Indigenous Youth Reconciliation Barometer. This role aims to amplify its reach and inform decision-making on key issues affecting Indigenous youth.

Information Management:
- Gather information and data and organize it in an effective manner to support the planning and implementation of the strategy.
- Support the IYR team, and partners in the planning, design, implementation and reporting stages of the dissemination strategy.
- Provide coordination assistance for the development of an interactive online hub to share findings and knowledge products.
- Support the evaluation of engagement programming and coordinating feedback from partners to inform additional reports, resources and recommendations.

Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communicate with partners externally and internally, with staff and volunteers.
- Assist in the delivery and evaluation of engagement activities.
- Support in the amplification of project findings through preparation for, and participation in presentations, events and engagement initiatives online and in person.

Community Engagement:
- Uphold and promote the organization’s cultural values and guiding principles in all workplace practices.
- Engage with the Indigenous community and support initiatives that strengthen relationships and collaboration.

Health, Safety, and Wellness:
- All employees are required to carry out their duties in a manner that does not adversely affect their own health and safety and that of others by reporting all potential hazards; and all incidents and injuries; as well as co-operating with any measures introduced in the workplace to improve OH&S.

Other:
- Maintain high ethical standards and demonstrate integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness in all endeavours and communications.
- Support and participate in all IYR staff, department, and team meetings.
- Participate in external and internal committees, working groups, or projects as required.
- Undertake other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience with research and engagement (equivalent education may be considered)
- 1+ years experience in project management and project coordination
- 1+ years experience in program design, delivery, analysis, and evaluation
- Experience working with community-based youth programming as asset
- Proven written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a high attention to detail.
Requirements
- You have a deep appreciation and respect for the history, culture, and autonomy of Indigenous peoples.
- You have experience working with First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities/organizations and believe in using your skills and talents to advance reconciliation.
- You can clearly convey your thoughts and expectations in writing and verbally, and you can accurately interpret what people tell you.
- Roadblocks and unforeseen issues don’t typically phase you and you provide a variety of workable solutions when they come up.
- You’re comfortable using technology to communicate and accomplish tasks.
- Attention to detail and accuracy is highly important, and you don’t overlook the big picture when preparing initial documents for contracts/projects.
- You like to be prepared and have organized systems for sharing information but don’t get caught up in deviating or adjusting your work when needed.
Benefits
- Salary: $30 / hour
- Vacation: 4% of income additionally as vacation pay
