Role Description

This project is centered on Hilton's CDP/CDW (China Data Platform / Workstream) — a China-specific cloud and data initiative within Jay's broader cloud, networking, and security organization. This is not a standard cloud project; it is a regulatory-driven infrastructure initiative tied to operating in China.

The initiative is driven by China data compliance requirements, which mandate that:

• Data must remain within China

What that forces Hilton to do:

• Build dedicated China-based cloud environments
• Design region-specific infrastructure (not global extensions)
• Integrate across:
• AWS (China regions)
• Alibaba Cloud

Hilton must create a parallel China-compliant cloud ecosystem, not just extend their existing global one.

The primary challenge is talent, not technology:

• Hilton lacks specialized cloud networking expertise for China environments
• The project has already experienced delays and resets
• Only one key internal resource has deep experience — creating a bottleneck

Net: They have complex requirements + partial progress + limited expertise, which is slowing delivery.

• Design and manage how data moves across environments

• VPC architecture
• Network routing
• Connectivity
• Data pathways across regions and clouds

Qualifications

• Alibaba Cloud OR AWS CHINA
• Designed VPC architecture across multiple AWS accounts
• Implemented VPC peering and Transit Gateway connectivity
• Configured route tables, NAT gateways, and secure ingress/egress patterns
• Established hybrid connectivity via VPN / Direct Connect
• Built cross-region or multi-cloud connectivity between AWS and external environments
