Role Description

Our Managed Services team is seeking a Banner Student & Degree Works Functional Consultant to serve as a trusted advisor to higher education institutions, helping them maximize the value of their Ellucian solutions and achieve their strategic goals. In this customer-facing role, you will leverage your functional expertise to optimize student information systems, streamline academic processes, and enhance the student experience.

Partnering closely with customers and cross-functional teams, you will provide strategic guidance, identify opportunities for improvement, and deliver solutions that drive operational efficiency and support institutional transformation. Where You Will Make an Impact

• Provide functional consulting and support to higher education customers using Ellucian Banner Student and Degree Works, helping institutions maximize the value of both solutions.
• Partner with customers to understand their business needs, evaluate current processes, and recommend improvements that enhance efficiency, system utilization, and the student experience.
• Assist customers with implementing new functionality, configuring solutions, and optimizing existing Banner Student and Degree Works processes.
• Troubleshoot functional issues related to Banner Student and Degree Works, collaborating with internal teams and customers to identify and implement solutions.
• Support business process reviews, requirements gathering, and application prototyping sessions to help customers identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist customers with Degree Works functionality, including degree audits, academic requirements, curriculum changes, and related student planning processes.
• Support the integration and alignment of Banner Student and Degree Works functionality to help institutions maintain accurate student records, degree requirements, and academic progress information.
• Translate customer business requirements into functional specifications for reporting, interfaces, system enhancements, and customizations.
• Assist in developing and executing test plans and scripts for system upgrades, patches, enhancements, and configuration changes.
• Collaborate with customers to validate that system updates and modifications meet their business requirements.
• Develop clear documentation, including business processes, functional requirements, testing procedures, and user guidance.
• Support customer training initiatives by helping develop training materials and delivering functional knowledge-sharing sessions when appropriate.
• Partner with other consultants and internal teams to deliver assigned projects within established timelines and scope.
• Build positive customer relationships by providing responsive support, practical recommendations, and a strong customer experience.
• Support customers as they adopt new capabilities and transition toward modern, SaaS-based solutions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience working in a higher education Registrar's Office, academic advising, student information systems environment, or higher education functional consulting role.
• Hands-on experience working with Ellucian Banner Student and Degree Works, including an understanding of their core functionality and how the systems work together.
• Working knowledge of Registrar's Office and academic operations, such as student records, registration, academic history, curriculum management, degree audits, academic requirements, or graduation processing.
• Familiarity with higher education business processes and how student information systems and degree audit solutions support institutional operations.
• Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into functional recommendations or system improvements.
• Experience supporting system testing, upgrades, enhancements, or configuration changes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with customers, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
• Ability to manage assigned tasks and projects, prioritize competing needs, and meet established deadlines.
• A customer-focused mindset with an interest in learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Preferred experience supporting Banner Student and Degree Works implementations, enhancements, or optimization projects, familiarity with Degree Works configuration, degree audit setup, or academic requirement maintenance.
• Preferred experience working with Degree Works tools and functionality such as Scribe, degree audits, or student educational planning, understanding of data integration and functional touchpoints between Banner Student and Degree Works, experience participating in business process improvement initiatives within a college or university, exposure to SaaS environments, cloud-based solutions, or higher education technology modernization initiatives.
