[Hiring] Backup & Disaster Recovery Engineer @Skaylink

Role Description

You'll take ownership of enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions, working with Veeam and cloud technologies to ensure business continuity, data protection, and fast recovery for critical systems in a modern IT environment. This role is remote within Romania. If you are based in Cluj-Napoca, you can also choose a hybrid setup and work from our office.

• Manage and continuously improve enterprise backup platforms using Veeam Backup & Replication.
• Ensure data protection and recoverability through restore testing, DR activities, and backup optimization.
• Implement and maintain secure backup strategies, including immutable and offsite backups.
• Troubleshoot backup-related incidents and drive long-term platform stability.
• Automate processes and improve efficiency using PowerShell and APIs.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams and maintain technical documentation, standards, and best practices.

Qualifications

• 5 years of hands-on experience in backup, infrastructure, or a similar engineering role.
• Strong experience with Veeam Backup & Replication and backup best practices.
• Knowledge of cloud, immutable storage, and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Azure, S3, Wasabi).
• Good understanding of Windows Server, VMware vSphere, or Hyper-V environments.
• Proficiency in PowerShell and interest in automation and process improvement.
• Structured, reliable, and solution-oriented approach with strong troubleshooting skills.
• Fluency in English and German.

• ITIL knowledge (nice to have).
• VMCE certification (nice to have).
