Role Description

University Annual Giving & Stewardship in the Office of Engagement is seeking applications for a federal work-study student employee who wants to learn more about fundraising and annual giving at UVA!

• Help write direct marketing appeals, impact pieces, and social media posts.
• Edit and proof drafts.
• Collect and write stories about UVA's alumni, students, faculty, staff, and donors.
• Other similar duties may be assigned within the Office of Engagement.

Qualifications

• Strong writing skills.
• Excellent time management.
• Curiosity to meet people and learn their stories.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

• Applicants must be eligible for student employment and work-study (FWS).
• This position will report to the Assistant Director of Content Creation, Direct Marketing.
• This posting is for the fall 2026 and spring 2027 semesters.
• Work will be remote with periodic opportunities for in-person collaboration and responsibilities.
• Rate of pay: $19.50/hour.
• Scheduling: Up to 20 hours a week; a minimum of 10 hours a week.
• Location: University Annual Giving & Stewardship's physical office is located at 2420 Old Ivy Road in Charlottesville.

Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
