Role Description

Amazon Selling Partner Developer Services is seeking a strategic, forward-thinking technical writer to join a team that is redefining how developer content is created, maintained, and scaled. Our documentation team plays a vital role in providing thought leadership internally to protect and improve Developer Success. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by working with a talented technical team to advocate for the needs of developers, architect scalable content solutions, and deliver high-quality technical documentation for Amazon Stores.

• Develop content strategies and scalable documentation solutions through close collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across engineering, product, and solutions architecture.
• Architect content frameworks that enable self-service experiences for both internal builders and external developers.
• Flexibly alternate between content creation, content strategy, planning, project management, and editing tasks across a variety of technical content solutions.
• Author content in accordance with established style guides and proactively lead improvements to those standards based on evolving best practices and AI capabilities.
• Manage a weekly work queue of documentation requests, prioritizing based on business impact and developer experience outcomes.
• Proactively identify and implement process improvements—including AI-driven automation, content reuse strategies, and efficiency innovations—collaborating cross-functionally to build and scale solutions.
• Evaluate, adopt, and advocate for AI tooling that enhances documentation quality, accelerates content production, and improves developer outcomes.
• Advocate continuously for improvements to the customer experience and documentation quality standards that exceed industry benchmarks.
• Identify and appropriately escalate issues that require leadership or cross-team attention.
• Act in an advisory capacity to partner teams on content strategy, information architecture, and documentation planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, English, Technical Writing, or a related field.
• Experience in technical writing in a relevant field.
• Experience using and following a style guide.
• Experience using content publishing tools to write, format, manage, and publish technical content on the web.
• Experience with XML-based publishing systems.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Experience working directly with designers and technical subject matter experts.
• Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
• Experience designing, planning, and delivering content projects.

Requirements

• Experience with cloud services.
• Experience working with Agile project management methodologies.
• Experience working with Git or an equivalent distributed version control system.
• Experience working with XML, reStructuredText, or Markdown-based documentation systems.
• Experience planning, managing, and delivering customer-focused documentation across multiple teams.
• Experience as a technical editor or writer of technical documentation working with style guides.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++.
• Subject-matter expertise in API documentation, developer tools, or related technical domains.
• Familiarity with OpenAPI and Swagger specifications.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, Markdown, authoring tools, repository management, and source control systems.
• Experience with prompt engineering and generative AI platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate, adopt, and advocate for AI tooling in a documentation or content workflow context.
