Role Description

Trail of Bits is looking for a Senior Technical Content Editor who operates at the intersection of technical editing and marketing content production. This hybrid role directly supports two critical functions:

• Maintaining the quality and velocity of our security report pipeline.
• Producing marketing content that amplifies our research, tools, and thought leadership.

You will partner with the Lead Technical Editor on report editing, blog production, and content quality assurance, and work with the Technical Marketing Manager on campaigns, social content, and co-marketing efforts. Expect roughly a 60% focus on technical editing and 40% on marketing content, shifting toward 50/50 as the team scales.

What makes this role distinct is the audience. The security research community reads our blog posts, uses our open-source tools, and attends our talks. You need enough technical fluency that your editing holds up to scrutiny from security engineers, and enough marketing instinct to know how to package research for the audiences that matter.

You are a proactive storyteller, not just a reactive editor. You work directly with engineering directors to extract stories and content from their teams, lightening their load while ensuring nothing ships without coverage.

Trail of Bits is an AI-native company. You will use and improve Claude-based content creation and editing tools that automate style enforcement and technical verification.

Qualifications

• Strong editorial skills, comfortable working at every level of editing.

Requirements

• Edit security reports across various domains ensuring technical accuracy and clarity.
• Develop, edit, and publish posts on the Trail of Bits blog.
• Manage publication through GitHub pull requests and coordinate with reviewers.
• Manage the team's report tracker and quality metrics systems.
• Build and refine Claude-based tools for content creation.
• Lead document design beyond reports.
• Identify and produce marketing content proactively.
• Own the content calendar in coordination with the Technical Marketing Manager.
• Create and publish social media content.
• Write and edit content for demand generation campaigns.
• Maintain and grow the newsletter pipeline.
• Elevate the writing and communication of team members.
