Role Description
Simply Recipes is looking for a Senior Editor, News & Trending. The role will be responsible for daily news and trending content for Simply Recipes. The Senior Editor will also collaborate with the team on packages of content, including for editorial tentpoles, holidays, heritage months, and cultural moments.
- Pitch, assign, edit, and publish daily news and trending content for Simply Recipes (30%)
- Ideate, pitch, and collaborate on packages of content built around editorial tentpoles, holidays, heritage months, and cultural moments (30%)
- Work with the Simply Recipes art department on imagery for daily content and content packages
- Work with social and email departments on promotion strategies for daily content and content packages (10%)
- Track current trends and competitors and apply learnings to pitches and assignments (10%)
- Collaborate on editorial strategy and other editorial goals (10%)
- Occasional article writing and appearances on social media and video content
- Represent Simply Recipes in occasional PR appearances and campaigns
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
- A degree in English, Journalism, or Creative Writing is preferred
- 3-5 years of experience developing editorial food content, preferably for the web
- 2 years experience editing food content and working with freelance writers
- Experience specifically related to home cooking
Requirements
- Strong storytelling skills and ability to help writers hone their voices
- Strong visual skills for formatting content and evaluating art/photography
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Experience working within a content management system (like Wordpress), MS Word, and Google (Docs, Sheets, and Slides)
- Experience tailoring content for Google Discover, AN+, and various outlets preferred
- Strong copywriting skills for engaging headlines and descriptions
- Ability to assess creative quality and provide constructive feedback
- Flexibility and collaborative work ethic
- Strong communication skills for remote team collaboration
