Join a PE-backed GIS consulting firm building a real proposal function from the ground up.

Proposal Writer / Coordinator

Location/Type: Remote (U.S.)

Pay: $70,000–$80,000 base salary

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm. Flexibility required for submission deadlines.

This is a hands-on proposal role for someone who knows how government evaluators score submissions — and how to write responses that score higher. You'll help build structure where little exists today. Less bureaucracy. More ownership. Real impact on win rates and growth.

What you'll do:

• Build compliance matrices before proposal writing begins
• Write RFP, RFQ, and proactive strategic proposals
• Translate GIS concepts into clear client-facing language
• Improve proposal scoring through stronger response strategy
• Coordinate deadlines, contributors, formatting, and submissions
• Submit proposals through procurement portals and verify receipt
• Support 3–5 concurrent pursuits under tight deadlines
• Maintain proposal content libraries, resumes, and project profiles
• Support presentations, case studies, and pursuit collateral
• Improve proposal processes as the company scales

Qualifications

• 3–6 years writing public-sector proposals
• Experience with government RFP compliance requirements
• Strong Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat skills
• Ability to write toward evaluation criteria and scoring
• Experience managing multiple concurrent proposal deadlines
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading ability

Requirements

• GIS, geospatial, IT consulting, or municipal experience (nice to have)
• Bonfire, Periscope, DemandStar, or procurement portal experience (nice to have)
• HubSpot or Salesforce experience (nice to have)
• Loopio, RFPIO, or proposal automation tool exposure (nice to have)
• Experience at smaller or scaling consulting firms (nice to have)

Impact & Growth

This team currently handles 50–60 proposals annually and is targeting significant growth. You'll help build a more mature proposal operation while directly improving submission quality, compliance rigor, and win consistency.

This is not a heavily layered enterprise proposal team. You'll write, coordinate, problem-solve, and jump in where needed. Strong ownership matters here.
