Role Description
We’re looking for a skilled legal content writer to join our Content Team on a contract-to-hire basis. You’ll be joining our Content Team, a group of experienced editors, including licensed attorneys, as a dedicated writer working alongside them to grow the team and elevate the work we deliver for clients.
The right person writes with precision and authority on complex legal topics, understands how content performs in both traditional and AI-driven search, and knows how to use AI tools for planning, research, and review—while keeping the writing itself entirely human-crafted.
You’ll work closely with the Content Editors and collaborate across our SEO and Client Services teams. The content you produce will appear on law firm websites nationwide—it must be written for the reader first—accurate, authoritative, and conversion-focused.
What You’ll Do
-
Write for the reader first – Research, draft, and deliver original static pages, blog posts, FAQs, and other content types that are accurate, substantive, and genuinely useful to potential clients.
-
Keep search engines in mind, not in charge – Apply SEO best practices and emerging Generative Engine Optimization (GEO/AIO) principles as a secondary lens.
-
Demonstrate E-E-A-T – Produce content that clearly signals Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness.
-
Use AI as a force multiplier – Leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) for content planning, topic research, competitive analysis, outline development, and post-draft review.
-
Maintain editorial standards – Follow the Content Team’s house style guide and applicable authoritative style guides.
-
Manage client feedback loops – Revise content drafts to incorporate client edits and address concerns promptly and professionally.
-
Own your workflow – Manage assigned tasks proactively, ensuring priority and urgent work receives expedited attention.
-
Stay current – Keep up with developments in legal issues relevant to our practice areas, SEO and content marketing trends, and the evolving AI search landscape.
-
Grow professionally – Participate in professional development including conferences, CLE seminars, webinars, online courses, and the annual company conference.
Qualifications
-
Demonstrated content writing experience with a portfolio that shows range—journalism, web copywriting, technical writing, or similar.
-
Deep familiarity with legal issues, especially personal injury, family law, criminal defense, workers’ compensation, Social Security disability, employment law, and/or bankruptcy.
-
Strong understanding of SEO content principles—keyword integration, on-page optimization, internal linking, and content structure.
-
Comfort using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) for research, planning, and editorial review.
-
Excellent written communication—clean prose, clear reasoning, and a knack for making complex legal topics accessible without oversimplifying.
-
Self-directed work ethic with strong time management and the ability to hit deadlines consistently.
-
A quiet, dedicated home office with reliable high-speed internet.
Preferred
-
J.D. and active law license (strongly preferred but not required).
-
Experience writing content optimized for AI search visibility (GEO/AIO).
-
Familiarity with E-E-A-T signals and how Google and AI platforms evaluate content authority.
-
Background in legal marketing, law firm websites, or legal publishing.
-
Comfort working asynchronously in a remote-first, small-agency environment.
