  • Build strong internal relationships to support PRP’s grants and major gifts portfolios.
  • Engage with PRP’s mission and help find supporters who will champion our work.
  • Focus on writing and cross-team collaboration rather than donor-facing work.
  • Open to candidates with a range of backgrounds, including communications, advocacy, or policy, as long as writing is a core focus and strength.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) to four (4) years of professional experience in writing-heavy roles where written communication and outputs are a core responsibility.
  • Experience with grant writing, fundraising, or development work is helpful but not required.
  • Success producing structured and compelling written work such as reports, proposals, advocacy, educational, or policy content.
  • Experience managing multiple projects or deliverables at once, often with overlapping deadlines.
  • Experience working across teams to gather input and develop written materials.
  • Background in advocacy, policy, legal, communications, or other mission-driven work, or related fields.
  • Experience translating complex or technical topics into accessible, audience-facing content.
  • Familiarity with project tracking tools (i.e. - Asana or similar) to manage workflows.

Requirements

  • Strong written storytelling ability, especially when translating complex or technical work into compelling external materials.
  • Ability to take ownership of and manage multiple projects at once with minimal oversight, maintaining timelines, quality, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to gather input across stakeholders and synthesize into clear, structured deliverables.
  • Proactive in identifying gaps, solving problems, and keeping work moving forward.
  • Communicates effectively across teams, helping to align stakeholders on priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Contributes to improving processes, workflows, and team coordination over time.
  • Collaborative and able to build strong working relationships across teams.
  • Open to learning and continuing to build expertise in grant writing and storytelling.

Benefits

  • Fully remote organization and team.
  • Travel several times a year to PRP events, conferences, or retreats.
  • Salary range for this role is set at Level 3: $87,550 - $118,450; exact salary will be based on candidate experience.

Company Description

Public Rights Project (PRP) is a national nonprofit organization that helps local government officials fight for civil rights. We build their capacity to protect and advance civil rights, convene and connect them on key issues, and provide legal representation to help them win in court for residents. Since its founding in 2017, PRP has recovered significant financial relief for marginalized people; built a nationwide network of government offices, elected officials, and community-based organizations; trained prosecutors and government lawyers across the country; and secured court victories on rights for abortion, immigrants, workers, and voting.
