Role Description

As a Fact Checker, you will be part of the SEO Strategic Content team and play a key role in building trust in the company by ensuring that content is accurate, error-free, and aligned with legal and brand guidelines. Fact checkers must be able to research both the granular and the big-picture aspects of content accuracy.

• Verifying the accuracy of information across a wide range of subject matter areas
• Building a sourcing library for current and future topical areas
• Guiding the Strategic Content team in compliance with legal guidelines
• Communicating with tact to editors, writers, and producers to ensure necessary edits are completed correctly
• Conducting accurate research to gather and verify facts
• Organizing claims and supporting research
• Uploading fact-checked content into the CMS and checking for proper formatting

Qualifications

• 1-8 years’ work experience as a Fact-checker - Journalism for a Professional Website
• Experience with at least one content management system (CMS) such as Contentful or similar
• Experience with project management tools like Airtable, Asana, or similar
• Experience with the Chicago Manual of Style
• A genuine love of research and the resourcefulness to go beyond simple Google searches
• Strong foundation in fact-checking best practices
• Experience with online research resources
• Experience with journalism best practices
• Bonus: Experience working for a larger global company

Requirements

• Must have experience in fact-checking for a Professional Website
• Requires being able to commit to working 20 hours per week
• Experience working in a remote role, self-managing, and managing time well in a high-volume environment
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive under pressure in a part-time role
• Excellent communication, critical reading, and writing skills
• Extremely organized with meticulous attention to detail

Benefits

• $25 per hour (Weekly pay)
• Part-time: Flexible work hours/schedule – Must work 20 hours a week
• 12-month contract (Great potential for extension)
