Role Description

Position: News & Copy Editor

Type: Contract

Compensation: $70–$75/hour

Location: Remote

Commitment: 25 hours/week

Role Responsibilities

• Review paired AI-generated news/copy writing against task briefs and writing guides.
• Judge for factual accuracy, hedging, and buried leads.
• Select a preferred sample and write a one-line reason.
• Apply tags and clear the calibration gate before live data.
• Work independently to meet deadlines and ensure high-quality outputs.

Qualifications

• Desk or copy editing experience at a major news organization.
• Comfortable cutting copy to the point on deadline.
• Ability to catch factual slips or buried leads on the first read.

Requirements

• Hourly contractor.
• Paid weekly.
